All about Rainbow Lorikeets

So, if you live in Australia like me, you will have definitely came accross the beautiful Rainbow Lorikeet

Rainbow Lorikeets usually nest in tree hollows where there is protection from predators and weather. A parent will usually produce one to three offsprings. These Lorikeets are very likely to survive and thrive through all seasons. Lorikeets have bristles on their tongue to extract nectar from gum trees. Autumn isn't too big as gum trees do not loose nectar. But sometimes these fabulous birds eat caterpillars. Rainbow Lorikeets like to stick together in flocks, throughout the day when flying, these birds will fly in groups of 10 - 20 birds! When roosting in the trees, these numbers can go up to hundreds! Rainbow Lorikeets are so common, we think we know eveything about them. As their vibrant colours make a beautiful common sighting, when they go into trees, they can almost camoflauge!
